My “Official” Bio
Emma Laurence is a Certified Life Coach (CLC), author of the illustrated Beyond Burnout Playbook, and lead singer for JazzLove. She’s a pioneer in life transition coaching and workplace leadership, including burnout recovery, with a specialty in serving millennials.
Emma’s background in New York City — as an award-winning actress, director, singer, and teacher in top private schools — anchors her groundbreaking coaching work. Leading with a creative approach, Emma combines proven coaching tools with compassionate presence.
Emma is a founding member of the Changing Work Collective where she co-leads the Creative Arts Cohort on a mission to support conscious business practices and practitioners. She collaborated with GoDaddy’s Small Business group to present Moving Beyond What Keeps Your Business Stuck, to help small business owners prevent burnout. Read her feature article on How To Learn To Believe in Yourself in Authority Magazine, or listen to her interview on Awakened Nation with Brad Szollose, which was named one of the series’ all-time best podcasts.
Emma is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of St. Lawrence University and a graduate of the New Actor’s Workshop in Manhattan. She now enjoys living in Minneapolis with her husband, Bruce, and cat, Zoey. To get through the long winters, Bruce bakes amazing GF desserts, while Emma reads novels, and Zoey naps by the fireplace.
JazzLove and Coaching
Here in the Minneapolis area, I get to front a trio, JazzLove, that performs jazz standards along with rock & Motown classics. We’re all about uplifting people with music.
Being a musician makes me a much better coach. Why? The tools that I’ve discovered on my musical journey are ones that can help you, too:
•rediscover joy,
•reactivate creativity,
•harmonize with others,
•find a sustainable rhythm (so you don’t burn out), and
•ride the crescendos and decrescendos of daily life.
Even though I’ve traveled and performed internationally over decades, I’m only now discovering my own sound. Our relationship to sound is an exciting and ongoing discovery that makes life worth living.
To explore this amazing connection further, check out my blog, Living As Music. It’s a deep dive into how the art & science of sound can help us navigate daily living with greater ease.
